What is Cleansing?
1.
To purify, to make clean, to
remove filth or foul matter of any kind, or by ay process, whatever, as by
washing, rubbing, scouring, scraping, purging, ventilation etc.
2.
To free from a foul / infectious
disease, to heal (Lev. 14:4, 8 Mark 1: 42)
3.
To free from ceremonial
pollution, and consecrate to a holy use (Num. 8: 15, Eze. 43: 20)
4.
To purify from guilt (1 John 1:
7; Mark 1: 44; Luke 5: 14) it also means to be completely rid of sin.
Excerpts
All
breaking of kingdom principles is sin, and all sin is symbolised by leprosy, a
very filthy disease. As a result of sin,
all men have come short of the glory of god.
Therefore, everyone needs a cleansing and it is a continuous process
done sincerely and consciously. (Matt. 5:48)
Why do we have to cleanse ourselves continuously?
1.
That we may be presented as holy
before a Holy God
2.
That we may be qualified to
relate with Him.
God’s
provision is that the blood of Jesus Christ keeps cleansing us from all
sin. Cleansing is an act of entreating
the forgiveness of our trespasses; because god cannot be in love with anyone
who is practising sin. We are exhorted
to be without spot or wrinkle (Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power,
are you washed in the blood of the Lamb)
What constitutes filthiness of the flesh and
Spirit?
This
statement addressed the New Creature in Christ Jesus. The new will has the
stewardship or responsibility over the old body. We are to control the old body
in the service of righteousness. Filthiness of the flesh could be uncleanness
of the hands, of the mouth. Above all
purify on the inward parts is the most essential. We should prevent our mind from becoming
filthy. (God searches the intent of the
heart). It is easy for us to see the
defilement of the flesh than of the spirit.
Cleanliness they say is next to godliness.
Provision of cleansing
1.
The word of god (Gal. 2: 21;
Romans 8: 21; 6: 14)
2.
The water (Eze. 36: 25)
